The birthplace of our basketball legend Dirk Nowitzki and thus the most beautiful
capital of Lower Franconia is home to an impressive number of foreign language speakers.
Thanks to the university, diverse trades, proximity to the business stuv hub Frankfurt and of course the crystal-clear Silvaner, representatives of various cultures, nationalities and language communities call Würzburg their home. Quite rightly so.
Not far from the Juliuspromenade, between Barbarossa-Platz and Mainfranken-Theater,
on the right-hand side, the International Language Exchange takes place on Saturday evenings in La Bamba
Here the city's language communities come together
and regularly spend enjoyable evenings with salsa music and drink discounts.
Foreign language enthusiasts, language students, former Erasmus graduates,
travel enthusiasts and open-minded people like you and me are hereby invited
and warmly encouraged to take part in this regular meeting
and become part of the regular table participants who have been drawn to the International Language Exchange regularly and irresistibly for now two and a half
years.
Certainly world languages of English, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian and German origin dominate this event. However,
your language and nationality are equally in demand to participate in this healthy multicultural mix
and get to know people you would never have met in university everyday life. The language exchange is not stupid sitting at flag-marked tables, but rather an open getting-to-know and networking, which becomes even easier with increasing alcohol levels. But if you're worried about presenting your rusty language skills to the world, then the drinks from the well-stocked bar at La Bamba also help to ease tension and then speak freely and cheerfully in the language of your choice. Even seasoned language teachers point to the relevance of wine and the like for learning a foreign language, because everyday life and textbooks are really completely different.
The cosy and homely salsa bar La Bamba is basically built for people to meet and not to keep their distance. In this 15-year-old child of Cuban parents, there's even a picture of the owners with Florian Silbereisen
from when he once had a great time at La Bamba. Back then he wore his blonde lucky hair loose and had not yet surrendered breathlessly in the night to the beautiful Helene. Owners Jaime and his son Brian serve every evening in front of this
image and know customers by name after the second visit. In the spring-like summer semester, however, the regular table doesn't just stay indoors, but moves to the Martinz as soon as inevitably good temperatures appear. In the beer garden of the Martinz, summer temperatures sit alongside drink discounts on the menu. With long days, sunsets and international conversation partners, the indescribable feeling of life in Würzburg can then be best grasped – oh how beautiful that is. Conclusion: Nowhere in Würzburg is it easier to get to know people and broaden your horizons. So come, children, to the International Language Exchange. The Facebook page already offers interested parties a visual foretaste
and regularly reminds its followers of its occurrence. In conclusion, one can only say:
Thank you for your attention and see you soon, Hasta Luego and À Bientôt.
