EPISODE X – Return of the Ringtones
Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away…
In Würzburg – to be precise – the only sun of the planet shone through the windows of a seminar room at Uni Würzburg. Some seats in this room were occupied.
The most diverse species of a certain kind had come together, called "students".
Some were larger, others smaller. With brown fur, with blue fur or even without fur on their heads. But they all had one thing in common: in front of them lay a means that could enable note-taking. Be it a white piece of paper or a fully automatic writing device.
The lecturer was listened to with more or less attention. Occasionally you could see a mobile phone with which the latest pictures on Instagram were being checked. Occasionally, even instructive notes were made. The usual behaviour for students in the first session of a seminar, then.
Complete silence reigned in the room, apart from the voice of the lecturer, who, as so often in the first session of a semester, explained the course of topics for the coming hours and the monotonous humming of the projector, which was supposed to project this course onto the wall.
The session dragged on like chewing gum and it was no secret that this hour was not to be marked by extraordinary excitement.
Still, the procedure seemed to be running according to usual standards.
Until suddenly a sound broke the silence, as if a bomb had exploded.
"Luke! I am your father!"
The lecturer interrupted his speech and looked around the room in shock.
"Luke! I am your father!"
A student broke out in a cold sweat. It was a rather small being with brown fur on its head. Nervously, it wiped its hand through its hair.
Never – really never! – had it been called without warning. A rare and spectacular incident, then. Only the father of the being possessed this ringtone. As quickly as possible, it pressed the off button on its writing device. Never before had anything like this happened to it. Damn. How could it have known that a call, which was not answered by the father, would be forwarded to the writing device of the small being?
The lecturer opened his mouth and the embarrassed being already expected a terrible lecture. But all he said was: "Well, with parents that's usually important. You should take that call!"
