The Climate Decision in Würzburg and why we must act

Enormous heat, water scarcity, tree death: all of these are consequences of climate change; events that occurred here in Würzburg last year. Given its location, we can be sure that these "phenomena" will intensify and affect us all more severely, unless we take action against this by adhering to the 1.5 degree limit!

Through organisations like FridaysForFuture, climate protection finally received more attention. Nevertheless, we have the feeling that our local politics is taking too few measures to curb rapid climate change. So that this now receives more attention and priority, we, six school leavers, have launched a citizens' initiative with the support of our umbrella organisation GermanZero, associations, businesses and other climate decision-makers.

But we depend on your help to bring our initiative before the city council.

Whether through spreading our cause on social networks, expert knowledge, good ideas and, since this is a citizens' initiative, above all through YOUR signature. To place a valid signature you only need to be at least 18 years old, have lived in Würzburg for two months, hold EU citizenship and fill out our signature list.

You will find this together with further information, including our climate city plan, which provides concrete impulses for Würzburg, on our homepage http://www.klimaentscheid-wuerzburg.de or at one of our collection points.

The good news is: there is no submission deadline for the completed lists, however we would like to reach the target of at least 5150 signatures (more is welcome, since you never know what might happen) as quickly as possible, because climate change does not wait for us but progresses in ever larger steps.

If you have any questions, suggestions or interest in participating, feel free to contact us on Instagram (@klimaentscheid.wuerzburg) or Facebook (Klimaentscheid Würzburg).
