Escapism

In hazy shadows is a dream in my head that I never had. One of those from which I wake overflowing with contentment, without remembering where it comes from. For when the world is a little too fast, even though it is not moving at all anymore.
It carries one to a place where time stands still, so that one can watch the sunflowers growing whilst lying in the meadow. Softly humming, ladybirds show one that one is exactly where one should be. Where bad news does not exist and strawberries taste like heaven. Where creativity flows freely, so that it is almost visible. In golden threads it swims along the river. It plays glorious music whilst its waves crash against the stones. A change of melody makes one listen up, far more beautiful than a ringtone ever could. The sun shines warmly, gives one a pleasant feeling on the skin and lends the meadow radiant colours.
It is a place that brings one complete peace.
And perhaps it is hopelessly unrealistic. Yet in my imagination it creates a perfect picture of hidden treasures and idyllic dynamism that carries me far away from reality. Does it lend reality a grey tint, because one can never compare its colours with it?
Would I not miss all that which makes this place appear so charming? People who make me laugh until my stomach hurts. The possibility of entertaining myself through technology that I sometimes damn so much. That hamster wheel of speed in which we are stuck, which serves my impatience. Very probably.
But does it have to be realistic if it only exists in my head anyway? Or can it be my refuge, just before I disappear into sleep?
For it is still only a dream in my head that I never had.
