Dear readers,
right on time for the start of the winter semester, we welcome you with the new Sprachrohr edition "Fernweh".
The first summer in which we could finally travel again is now officially over. But that doesn't mean our wanderlust is satisfied. With the cold seasons ahead, the longing for distant places grows in us again. Whether real or fictional, our Instagram feed or a good book brings us the warmth of distant places into our armchair at home.
But for us, there is much more behind the term "Fernweh" than the longing for distant places. In "Fern-Weh" there is also the pain that grips us when we look into the distance. Worldwide, much is in flux at the moment. We are troubled by political changes or the status quo, societal ignorance and so much more. Of course not only in distant places, but it is important not to suppress the world-weariness that touches us. We cannot ignore what lies on our hearts; instead, we have put together an edition for you filled with our worries and hopes, whether in distant places or very close to home.
The coming semester will finally take place at least partly in person again. So we're keeping our fingers crossed that our new first-year students have the chance to sit in a seminar room or lecture hall again, daydream or wish themselves far away during the exam phase.
To make the first few months a little easier, we have finally brought back our "Save the Date" category after a long time, which informs you about events in Würzburg. Events that really do take place! No matter which semester you are in: we wish all students the chance to finally be reminded again how beautiful it is here too, at university and with fellow students.
