A day in the life of a trainee teacher

It's Thursday, 6:00 a.m. The alarm clock, my personal arch-enemy, sings its morning song. After a strategic dose of caffeine, my journey to the placement school begins; fortunately, Deutsche Bahn was reliable this time. At exactly 8:00 a.m. I stand in the classroom, prepared for my first self-taught lesson on the topic: "The Noun". The fifth-graders are motivated and fortunately I finish just in time before the bell rings. After the lesson, I sit down with the other trainees and my supervising teacher to discuss the lesson afterwards.
Back at Hubland I meet up with my fellow students in the new Mensa to treat myself to a portion of pasta and for dessert the popular Kaiserschmarrn. This is important: without this sugar boost you won't get through the afternoon.
In the afternoon then the Psychology lecture: we learn how students are actually supposed to learn, but feel caught out ourselves that procrastination is not a suitable learning method for optimal learning success. If you look left and right, you notice: whilst the lecturer talks about motivation, some fellow students prefer to devote themselves to online shopping or the game HayDay (completely understandable, the virtual harvest won't wait!).
But hey, the noun is down and tomorrow the hunt for the perfect lesson begins anew. Until next time!
