Who actually advocates for the interests of students?

Students represent themselves and must pay attention to their thematic priorities and objectives in doing so.
To establish a representation, there are university elections every year in which you elect student representatives for your faculty who form your Faculty Student Representation, as well as elected students from political university groups. Together with the two senators (also elected in the university elections), these form the Student Convocation. There, concerns of all students are discussed at university-wide level.
The Convocation additionally elects 7 students who, together with the two senators, form the Speaker Council / Student Government (SSR).
Everyone who engages in one of these bodies forms the Student representation (stuv) of Uni Würzburg. The SSR is, so to speak, the executive body of the students and represents your interests to various groups, such as the university management, the student services organisation, the city of Würzburg and many more.
It also takes care of many other things such as events (Freshers' Fair, Mensa-Party, Campuslichter, theatre performances) services (room placement, information dissemination) and the departments, in order to improve the cultural offering and student-friendliness in Würzburg.
What does all this have to do directly with you?
All these bodies are carried by students. That means, if you want to get involved, simply contact them directly.
We also offer you the opportunity to get a taste of the various work areas of the SSR.
We structure these work areas according to the so-called portfolios of the SSR members. These are the following portfolios in which you can participate flexibly at any time:
• Public Relations
(e.g. Social Media, website, Montagsmail, press contact)
• Events
(e.g. information events, parties, festivals)
• Equality, Social Affairs and Sustainability
(e.g. information lectures, workshops, demonstrations)
• Internal Politics
(University-wide student politics topics and topics of the city of Würzburg)
• External Politics
(Bavaria and nationwide student politics topics)
