Become Student Staff

Why become Student Staff?

Are you interested in earning money alongside your studies? As Student Staff, you have – unlike many other part-time jobs – the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills for your studies through (predominantly) academic work at the university. Furthermore, in later application processes you may well benefit from a higher reputation amongst employers and HR departments as Student Staff.

Several thousand Student Staff are employed at Uni Würzburg. We are happy to support you in applying for a position as Student Staff.

Ways to the position

Student Staff positions are usually advertised by the chairs, institutes and faculties themselves. Occasionally, students are also approached directly by professors, lecturers, tutors etc. to ask whether they might be interested in a Student Staff position. However, central university institutions, for example the university library, the computing centre, the Central Student Advice Service (and many others) also frequently search for student assistants.

We therefore recommend the following ways to become aware of a suitable Student Staff job in good time:

  • Regular checking of the job pages listed below as well as the pages of relevant chairs and institutions (library, computing centre, …)
  • Subscribing to chair-specific and faculty-specific mailing lists, newsletters etc.
  • Subscribing to university-wide newsletters, for example
  • einBLICK (Online magazine of the JMU)
  • UB Student Staff job advertisements (Student Staff jobs at the university library)
  • and of course our Mailing list of the Student Staff Department
