Manhattan, 1940s
Obsessed with their apparent intellectual superiority, Brandon and Philipp, two young aspiring students from Manhattan's upper class, strangle their fellow student David and hide him in a trunk.
The subsequent party is meant to be the crowning climax of their supposedly perfect crime. But as the murder victim's loved ones unknowingly gather around the same trunk, their concern grows for the missing David. His unknown whereabouts and some contradictory coincidences also attract the attention of Francis Cadell. The philosopher and former teacher of the students begins to suspect that the party is more than just an ordinary gathering of old acquaintances…
A dramatic chamber play, based on a true story, that shakes moral customs and values, transcends the theoretical boundaries of philosophy and psychology, and tears open human abysses.
