Mobility
How do you get to university easily, between the different locations and back home in the evening? That's what the Department of Mobility is committed to. It looks after buses and trains, the semester ticket and cycling connections.
The Department coordinates the Mobility Partnership and uses it to raise what students feel is lacking.

What we do
Bus and rail
The Department regularly speaks with WVV and other transport companies about routes, frequency and stops on campus.
Semester ticket
In consultation with the Student Government (SSR), the Department negotiates the price and terms of the semester ticket.
By bike to campus
More parking spaces, shelters and repair stations for bicycles on campus: the Department is committed to this as well.
Networking
The Department coordinates with the student representations of the other Würzburg universities, for example in the Mobility Partnership.
Projects and positions
Reliable during disruptions
The StuPa demands: if public transport fails on a large scale, the university informs everyone by email, and no one suffers disadvantages in exams as a result.
Semester ticket: how it continues
At the 2026 university elections, two student referendums on the semester ticket were on the ballot. They asked whether the ticket should also apply in the city of Schweinfurt and four further districts of the NVM. Depending on the referendum, it would have become more expensive by a maximum of 10 or a maximum of 20 euros per semester.
Both referendums were rejected. You can find the figures in the university elections.
For you, this means: Your semester ticket continues to be valid in the city of Würzburg and in the districts of Würzburg, Kitzingen and Main-Spessart. In negotiations with the transport companies, the department is committed to keeping it that way. It opposes a paid expansion.
Good to know
The semester ticket is a solidarity model: all students pay the same amount, regardless of how often they travel. This is the only way to keep the price low for everyone. You receive the ticket automatically with your enrolment or re-registration, and your student ID card is your ticket.
With the semester ticket, services are contractually guaranteed, for example a certain frequency on the bus lines to Hubland. Furthermore, stuv can have a say in lines and timetables.
The semester ticket alone won't cover it. However, you can add the D-Ticket Studium as an upgrade, with your semester ticket being credited proportionally. The price, validity area and booking are explained by the Student Services Organisation.
