stuv is committed to a university that takes climate and environment seriously: in teaching, on campus and in the canteen. To achieve this, the Department of Ecology and Sustainability, our representatives on the university's Sustainability Commission and the Student Parliament work together.
What we stand for
Sustainability in teaching
Education for sustainable development should be part of every subject and mandatory in studies. Students should have half the votes in decisions about this.
Plant-based in the Mensateria
As a trial, the Mensateria Hubland Nord should cook only vegetarian and vegan food after reopening. Nothing changes in the other canteens.
Water dispensers
Fixed water dispensers at all faculties, mobile solutions in the meantime.
Open letter: Climate-neutral by 2030
Students of Uni Würzburg drafted an open letter to the university management in 2022. They demand:
- a clear disclosure of all climate-relevant emissions of the university
- a concrete roadmap for a climate-neutral Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg by 2030
The Faculty Student Representation (FSVs) as student representation of all faculties support these demands and have participated with statements from their subject areas.
Handover on 6 May 2022
On Friday, 6 May 2022, the students handed over the letter to Ms Schlömerkemper, Vice President for Sustainability.
In the spirit of a joint new beginning, there was a bicycle procession of students to various university buildings, in which the Vice President also participated.
What has happened since
Education for sustainable development is now being integrated into studies, with a university-wide course on WueCampus is being worked on. How far the university has come overall is shown by its 2025 sustainability report and the monitoring on the university's sustainability page.
