Student Subject Initiatives (FSI)
Are you looking for people from your degree programme who can help you with questions about your studies? Then visit your Student Subject Initiative (FSI). Here, students from an institute or degree programme get involved: they answer questions, organise freshers' days and throw parties.
What an FSI does for you
Questions about your studies
Which courses are right for you, how does the exam work? Students from higher semesters know your subject and can help you further.
Fresher days and parties
FSIs organise the start of studies in their subject, plus parties and pub quizzes.
Get involved
New people are usually welcome: write to your FSI or come along to the next meeting.
How an FSI works
FSIs exist mainly at large faculties with many different subjects. They are not elected. As a rule, anyone from the subject can participate: simply speak to them. The official representation of your faculty is the elected Faculty Student Representation. If there is no FSI for your subject, contact them. The Student Faculty Council promotes exchange between Faculty Student Representations and FSIs.
Formally, FSIs are not a body. For many subjects they are nevertheless indispensable: they are involved whenever a degree programme changes, and they take part in the tuition substitution funds committees. They organise participation in the national student conferences of their subject, and some elect semester representatives or organise the graduation ceremony.
FSI Teacher Training
The FSI Teacher Education is there for all teacher education students, regardless of which faculty you study at. It helps with questions about Educational Sciences, didactics and practicum offices and connects you with other teacher education students. Do you want to get involved? Write to stuv-lehramt@uni-wuerzburg.de. The central point of contact at the university for all questions about teacher education studies is the Professional School of Education (PSE).
